Dear New UMB,

Thank you for joining the Upfront Mortgage Brokers Association. Your commitment to transparency in your mortgage practice is something that you should be very proud of. I would like you to take a little bit of time and familiarize yourself with the opportunities available to you through UMBA the Members Area of the UMBA website. Once you log in to the members only section of the website, you will see the black bar across the top of the page with Home, Marketing, Message Board, Information, FAQ’s, My Account buttons. Allow me to explain each section.

Home: This is where you will see your bio, and all the information that you can put into your profile for potential borrowers to see when they are searching for a UMB in your state. You can edit any of the information within the headings by clicking on the black 'Edit' button at the bottom of each section.

Marketing: This section of the members area is designed to allow members to share their marketing materials/ideas with other members. Once members download and view your marketing material they can then rate and comment on your marketing submission.

Message Board: This site uses Snitz Forums 2000 for it's message board needs. Snitz requires a seperate login (username and password) from this UMBA site. If you are a new user to the message board, please make sure you register before attempting to post messages.

Information: This section of the members area has things like the UMB logo for your website, marketing, and email signatures, a contract for you to be able to use with your clients, and the Bylaws of the UpFront Mortgage Broker Association.

FAQ’s: This section of the members area has frequently asked questions about membership and committee assignments.

My Account: This has all of your account information at a glance. You can also pay your dues from the My Account area as well.

You are encouraged to join a committee for UMBA if you want to become more involved. The committee options and their explanations are as follows:

UMBA Committees

UMBA Committees shall provide recommendations to the Executive Committee to assist in the operations and promotion of the UMBA.

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee shall concern itself with matters relating to the finances of the UMBA, and shall be chaired by the Treasurer. In addition to the Treasurer, the Finance Committee shall be comprised of not more than 5 additional members. Duties of the Finance Committee will include, but not limited to, the following:

  1. On an annual basis, prepare an annual budget for the UMBA for the forthcoming year.
  2. If audited financial statements are required of the UMBA, interview individuals and/or firms qualified to prepare such statements, and make recommendation to the Executive Committee.
  3. Assist the Treasure in preparation of any state or federal tax returns

Marketing Committee

The responsibility of the Marketing Committee shall be the promotion of the UMBA to consumers. In addition to the Chairperson, the Marketing Committee shall be comprised of not more than 10 additional members. Duties of the Marketing Committee will include, but not limited to, the following:

  1. Preparation and release of press releases relating to UMBA activates
  2. Investigate the creation of 'collateral pieces”'
  3. Investigate whether the hiring of a professional public relations firm would be viable and in the best interests of the UMBA; , and if so, interview individuals and/or firms qualified and make recommendation to the Executive Committee.

Law and Insurance Committee

The Law and Insurance Committee shall be responsible for both legal and insurance matters, and shall be chaired by the Secretary. In addition to the Secretary, the Law and Insurance Committee shall be comprised of not more than 5 additional members. Duties of the Law and Insurance Committee will include, but not limited to, the following:

  1. On an annual basis, review the types of insurance that the UMBA is carrying (i.e. liability insurance; property insurance, etc) and determine whether such insurance is adequate or necessary, and whether the UMBA should have additional insurance policies. Said review will also include determine whether a change in the insurance company holding such policies should be made.
  2. Determine what federal, state and local filings are necessary, and insureensure that such filings are completed.
  3. Handle and legal matters that may involve the UMBA, including lawsuits and any UMBA recommended forms.

Website Committee

The Website Committee shall be responsible for any and all items concerning the UMBA website. In addition to the Chairperson, the Marketing Committee shall be comprised of not more than 10 additional members. Duties of the Website Committee will include, but not limited to, the following:

  1. Design and features of website
  2. Content on the website
  3. Research member websites to insureensure that the website contains the UMB Commitment, UMB Logo, and link to the UMBA Website.

Membership Committee

The primary objective of the Membership Committee is to increase membership in the UMBA. In addition to the Chairperson, the Membership Committee shall be comprised of not more than 10 additional members. Duties of the Membership Committee will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  1. Write articles and issue press releases to mortgage trade publications
  2. Investigate the creation of 'collateral pieces' that can be sent to prospective members.
