Chris began his mortgage career in Maine and after four years originating there moved to North Carolina where he owned and operated a small, high-quality mortgage brokerage. He is now based in Washington, DC. He has trained residential mortgage loan originators and processors at the nation’s largest mortgage lenders, including Countrywide, DiTech, New Century, Ameriquest, GMAC, and PHH.
Chris teaches the fundamental concepts and information needed to form a foundation for understanding the residential mortgage loan process. His training includes mortgage math, loan program comparisons, FHA/VA and conventional loans, qualifying income and assets, credit and credit scoring, reverse mortgages, taking a complete application, and marketing. Chris teaches both private, on-site classes and public classes.
Chris has taught new and veteran originators how to pass loan originator licensing exams in such states as Maryland, Illinois, North Carolina, and Utah. He trains state mortgage examiners for the American Association of Residential Mortgage Regulators (AARMR) and state bank examiners for the Conference of State Bank Supervisors (CSBS). He has also trained housing counselors at training institutes around the country for the Neighborhood Reinvestment Coalition/Neighborworks.
In addition to owning a mortgage brokerage in North Carolina, Chris taught housing counselors there, and for eight years he taught an 8-week-long home-buying course - which he designed - at community colleges in the state.
Chris has studied, taught, and written about credit scoring for more than a decade.
